Privacy policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
The short version: the numbers you type into the calculator never leave your browser. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not sell personal data, and the only personal information we intentionally retain is an email address, and only if you choose to submit one for jackpot alerts. We use analytics and may enable third-party advertising in the future, both described below.
What the calculator does not collect
All tax calculations on this site run locally in your browser using JavaScript. The jackpot amount, the state you select, and your filing status are never transmitted to our servers, never logged, and never stored. There is no database of user calculations because there is no database of users. If you close the tab, nothing about your session persists on our side.
Information we do process
Analytics (aggregate, cookieless)
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages people visit. It records aggregate data such as page URL, referring site, device type, browser, and country. It does not use cookies and does not build a cross-site profile of you. We use this only to decide what to build and fix.
Advertising if enabled (Google AdSense)
Google AdSense code is present while we seek approval, but this site does not currently display ads. If ads are enabled in the future, Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. For more detail on how Google handles data when you use partner sites, see Google's partner sites policy.
Email address (only if you submit one)
If you sign up for jackpot alerts, we store your email address with Resend, our email service provider, solely to send those alerts. We do not sell, rent, or share that address, and we do not use it for anything else. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can request deletion at any time through the contact page.
Approximate location (not stored)
To preselect your state in the calculator, our server reads the country and region that our hosting provider derives from your IP address at the moment of the request. This is used to pick a default dropdown value and is not written to any store or log. Selecting a different state overrides it immediately.
Browser storage (stays on your device)
We use your browser's local storage to remember your color theme, whether you dismissed the support prompt or the install banner, and how many times you have seen them, so we do not keep asking. These values live only on your device and are never transmitted to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Contributions (handled by Stripe)
If you choose to support the site, the payment is processed entirely on Stripe's own checkout page. We never see, receive, or store your card details. Stripe's handling of that data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
Security and abuse prevention
To block automated abuse, our edge layer applies short lived, in memory rate limiting keyed to the requesting IP address, and blocks known scanner traffic. These counters are ephemeral and are not used to identify or profile visitors.
Cookies
We set no first-party tracking cookies of our own. If advertising is enabled, third-party advertising cookies may be used as described above. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, and blocking advertising cookies does not break the calculator.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. In practice, the only personal information we intentionally retain is an email address you gave us voluntarily. We also process short-lived IP-address rate-limit data to protect the site from abuse, so most requests resolve immediately.
- EEA and UK (GDPR): you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing. Our lawful basis for sending alerts is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- California (CCPA and CPRA): you may request disclosure of what we collect and request deletion. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising beyond the Google advertising described above, which you can opt out of using the links in that section.
- Everyone else: the same requests are honored regardless of where you live.
To make a request, use the contact page. We may need to confirm the request came from the address in question before acting on it.
Children
Playing the lottery is restricted to adults, and this site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted an email address to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Third party links
We link to official lottery sites, the IRS, state revenue departments, and news sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be summarized here rather than quietly edited in.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests about your data, can be sent through the contact page.
