Corrections are the priority

If a number on this site is wrong, that is the most useful message you can send, and it goes to the front of the queue. Tax rates change, states pass surtaxes mid year, and official pages get reformatted in ways that break automated data retrieval.

To make a correction fast to verify, include the page you were on, the figure you think is wrong, and a link to an official source such as an IRS revenue procedure, a state revenue department page, or an official lottery site. Corrections backed by a primary source usually ship the same week. The methodology page documents where each figure comes from, which is a good place to check first.

Good reasons to write

• A tax rate, bracket, or jackpot figure looks incorrect
• Something is broken, unreadable, or behaves oddly on your device
• A calculation is unclear and the methodology page did not resolve it
• You want to know how a specific number was derived
• Press, research, or a question about reusing the data
• An accessibility problem that makes the site hard to use

Being direct about this saves us both time:

Do not email us, and do not tell anyone else yet. Sign the back of the ticket, store it somewhere secure, and contact a licensed CPA and an attorney in your state before you contact the lottery. Claim deadlines and anonymity rules vary by state, and some of those decisions cannot be undone once made. That advice is worth far more than anything this calculator can tell you.
